November and December

In November 2007 I was in Imphal (Manipur, India). I was invited to speak at the International Conference on Science and Spirituality (November 23-24, 2007).

I spoke about logic and religion, and explained the interconnectivity of all beings and objects starting from a singularity (the Membrane). Here a link to a 42 minutes video of the speech taped with a mobile phone.

The conference was organized by the Bhaktivedanta Institute.





I attended in December a workshop on "Structure and identity" (Dec 7 and 8, 2007) organized by the Centrum Leo Apostel (Clea) of the VUB and Ugent. The event toke place at the Koninklijke Academie van België (Brussels). Some of the speakers: Peter Caws (George Washington University), Thomas Forster (Cambridge), Bob Coecke (Oxford), Richard Arthur (McMaster). Especially the talk of Bob Coecke was interesting since he pointed out the importance of topology. His approach reminds me of the algebraic analysis Lou Kauffman makes in his knot theory. In 2004 I met Lou during the APNA Conference in Cambridge. He told me then that I had created a completely new type of geometrical "knots", unknown to him. Now Lou works often together with Lee Smolin and his team of the Perimeter Institute in Canada.

The Real Pascal Triangle

The hidden structure of Pascal's Triangle.

This week I was looking into the logic of the mathematical triangle of Blaise Pascal.
That triangle was already discovered before him by some others, like the Chinese Yang Hui and the Persian Omar Khayyam, but in the west we still call it the Pascal Triangle. For the Buddhists and Hindus the triangle represents the Mount Semeru or Mount Meru. For them that abstract sacred mountain contains the Whole and it's combinations, and is the center of the Universe.

When we see the traditional triangle we should ask also: Where do the "ones" come from? It is not enough to say: We have to start somewhere.

Here is my analysis.
I use my proper "pelastratic" logic. In this logic there is a single dynamic background membrane which is indivisible, thus cannot be cut in pieces or cannot be broken. This membrane surface has not any additional structure, except it's proper entity. This membrane represents neutral energy. That neutral energy is not manifested yet in any form, therefor we call it "Zero Field". Tesla called such background: The Field of Force.
By a pelastration - a penetration - of one local part of that membrane by another part of that membrane, a new zone is created where these two part co-exist. That's a holon. The holon "unit" is in fact a UNION. This holon contains the active - penetrating - part in its center , call it the father, where this central part is covered by the passive part, call it the mother. The holon is the child. The child contains a part of the father and the mother. The child has structure: one layer of the father and two layers of the mother.



We can show this action in a diagram, where the membrane is presented with the sign of infinity (which are connected zero's). From infinity we can receive two zero's, one will be active and one will be passive. Or one will be minus and the other will be plus. Or we can call them a and b. Or we can call them yin and yang. By a pelastration these two parts of infinity, the two zero's, become a new "unit" (our holon).



If we call this holon a space unit we can say that the space unit is structurally composed of neutral passive dynamics and neutral active dynamics. So neutral dynamics has the potency to create space.

What if we project this approach on the Pascal's Triangle?
Then we see that the real Pascal triangle looks like this:



Next to the line with the "ones" is a line with the parents of each 1, and these parents are part of the infinity. This new presentation of the Pascal triangle gives the full mathematical reality. Of course stating that 0 + 0 = 1 is a very strange approach. This new Pascal triangle makes it easy to understand the so called "Zero Point Energy", promoted by researchers like Hal Puthoff, when they try to explain phenomena like virtual particles, the Casimir effect or Bose-Einstein condensates. In my opinion they should speak about Zero Field Energy.

Remarkable is that each "1" is separated from the others, thus has at least one vacuum space between them.

What does this means in mathematical sense?
Next image shows the powering in the real Pascal Triangle. In this case I use instead of two zero's, the letters a and b like in algebra.
The gray zones are areas where the combinations are made. They doesn't involve new "units". You can see how the algebraic formulas are build up by combined units (new unions).



I postulate the existence of a single neutral background field (a membrane) that acts as a "zero field energy system" which creates by a simple penetration different type of holons, which can have several presentations, like numbers, fundamental particals.

Integrity of the system

If you read my first post you will understand that holons are specific spaces made by the elastic, non-breakable, gravitational background field.

What we observe in Nature as energy and matter is just enfolded membrane. Nothing else. You and I are gravitational membrane enfolded in specific ways. We are constructed by what we call fundamental particles, which are the building holons of atoms, molecules, cells, organs, … and our human body. We can say: We are fundamental or elementary particles. And Occam’s razor tells me that the simplest way to understand fundamental particles is that they are specific enfolded (compactified) local parts of spacetime.

We are all constructed in a different way. That makes us unique. As such we have each our unique biologic system. Your body has a proper defense layer that separates you from the surrounding. We call that our skin. That’s a membrane.

Now when we downscale our body to cells we will notice that every aspect/parts of the cells are membranes.



Each sub-system in the cell-mechanism is also unique, and MUST have a kind of boundary to keep it unique, to be able to process its proper tasks. In example the lipid bilayer is a composed membrane but it is build from other smaller elements which have also there proper structure and function. It is composed of a double layer of lipid-class molecules, specifically phospholipids, with occasional proteins intertwined, some of which function as channels. Between those two layers is the intermembrane space, which is the region between the inner membrane and the outer membrane of a mitochondrion or a chloroplast. There inside is located a system which arranges electron moves, called the electron transport chain, which is a series of membrane-associated electron carriers mediating biochemical reactions. Next to that we have here also four proton pumps, which are extremely complex transmembrane structures that is embedded in the inner membrane. To the biological membrane is also attached the Integral Membrane Protein. The cell contains also coded systems like DNA and RNA, which contain Genes, which contain Codons. All unique! All isolated from each other by proper boundaries to protect them against the surrounding. Each codon consists of three nucleotides, representing a single amino acid, where each nucleotide sub-unit consists of a phosphate, deoxyribose sugar and one of the 4 nitrogenous nucleotide bases. Again: All unique! All are isolated from each other by proper boundaries to protect them against the surrounding. When we go deeper down we find all these chemical compounds (nucleotides) that consist of three components. This is level where atoms and molecules are combined in specific combinations.

Atoms are dynamic systems which are composed of electrons, protons and neutrons. Each with a specific energy structure. And protons and neutrons - after Wilczek – consist of three quarks bond by gluons. All with a proper structure, let’s say for a while. Here is what is called in Quantum Physics the quantum world. A strange fundamental world where some particles pop-up and disappear again, where a few protons can suddenly become twenty protons, etc. To explain this uncertain behavior Quantum mechanics physicists created a very remarkable double state called superposition. In such state a particle can have state where it is undecided to which appearance it will collapse. Of course this is a crazy approach.

What is happening in reality? It is a question of coupling and uncoupling. Like we have explained above every system has its boundary, and that boundary is the result of the causal restructuring of the basic gravitational field or membrane. By a pelastration two part of the structureless non-breakable membrane couple into a new holon, which consists of two parts of the original membrane.

A holon has at the outside a cover of the passive membrane part. This can be called magnetic (or yin), because the inner counter part is acting like the electric part (or yang). You know that an electric “field” always has a magnetic “field” surrounding him.

This covering (magnetic) outside layer is THE BOUNDARY of the SYSTEM (in this case a single holon). This covering layer protects the system against the surrounding.

Now on the quantum level - also called the Planck Scale - we reach the area where such boundaries are made!
This is the level where holons (as fundamental particles) can uncouple to become again original structureless membrane, or where membrane parts can couple in a new structured package, a new holon with structure (and a proper boundary). Virtual particles are only for a very short time “particles” since the coupling is not powerful enough. If the conditions are favorable the coupling gives a “real particle” like an electron or photon, which are then new holons.


Don’t forget that all “particles” (holons) are still gravitationally connected.

Thus the boundary is part of the system that protects its integrity. Without a boundary or an isolation layering there can not be diversity or differentiation.

Interesting is System Theory, where some authors refer to the boundaries.

Gravity is the key

Man cannot cut God in pieces.

Something is fundamentally wrong with our understanding of the Universe.

It has to do with the essential holistic question(s): How can a single system create dualities? Or: How can a genderless God make creations with incorporated duality (Yin + Yang)? Or: How can a neutral zero-field create the specific components that make together our Universe?

This is the essence of what Lao Tsu, the Greek philosophers, Kabbalists and so many others like WT Clifford and Einstein searched over the years.

Gravity has the key.
But science doesn't like to include gravity in its search. Gravity is a scientific problem.

To handle Gravity scientists tend to look for separate pieces, like the Higgs Boson, or just throw gravity out of their analysis or equations (because its effect would be too weak). String theory pretend to include gravity in the approach but – again – it cuts the universe in zillions of magic strings, instead of starting from a single basic string or membrane. Recently, Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) started to become popular with Smolin, Loll and others who try to find concepts to explain how a background system can function. Braids and braiding is to them one of the possibilities. But – again – why speak of separate braids? Occam’s Razor calls for the simplest solution. Why not start with a kind of singularity? One non-breakable background. This is the problem is: The property of unbrokenness is not understood, or ignored as the key to dynamics. We can call this the Universal Law of Continuity.

Gravity is the only dynamic physical phenomena that unites, directly or indirectly.
We cannot cut gravity. We can try to go around, but can never cut it.
The mean characteristic of gravity is: Elasticity. Continuity.

Gravity is the only measurable force that might prove or indicate the existence of (a) God.
Can Man cut God in pieces? Can Man tear God in parts? No.
In religious terms we can say: Nobody can cut God in pieces, or in physics terms: Nobody can cut Gravity in pieces.

Where Bernhard Riemann started with a crumpled ball of paper with bookworms to explain hidden dimensions in non-Euclidean geometry.



In fact Riemann's space ball contained all three of these geometries, zero curvature, positive curvature and negative curvature.



Some years later William Kingdon Clifford (1876) stated that matter en energy are simple different types of curvature of space. Later Einstein developed this idea since he looked for "Das Feld", a background gravitational force, where: “spacetime is a fundamental field in nature as an underlying metric (g-mu-nu) to the world which like a cake, supports the frosting which we see as the gravitational field, g-uv”. In General Relativity (Einstein) matter instructs spacetime how to bend and spacetime will tell matter how to move (following the bending). Energy and Mass are equivalent; either produces a gravitational field. To understand this better the rubber sheet analogy was created.




But wait a minute. Produce? Matter produces gravity? Should this not be: “Matter is (incorporated) gravity” So why not say: Energy and Matter are different manifestations of the gravitational field? When Matter is compacted gravitational fields then it is logic that “matter” will bend spacetime because they are the same! Occam razor. And of course spacetime will tell matter to follow the bending, … because they are one and the same. If one moves the other moves also. If matter (visible spacetime) moves, the invisible spacetime moves too. If the invisible spacetime moves, … the visible spacetime (matter) moves too. Remember the Universal Laws of Continuity. So matter then cannot be separated from spacetime, which is the gravitational field.

My holistic point is that a gravitational background field must be a non-breakable elastic continuum that is the source of everything. At the start there was nothing else. We can understand this non-breakable elastic continuum as being an elastic and dynamic "membrane", without structural shape. The membrane however is "real" in energetic sense. It is bounded energy and can be called a single boundary, where the boundary is present but is not yet manifested in structural shape. That way, without structure, it is the "potency" or neutral energy. This is the Wu Chi (for Lao Tse), the AIN (for the Kabbalist), Point of Singularity (Hawking), Zero-point Energy (Einstein/Stern), etc.

Now IF gravity is indeed a non-breakable elastic background continuum from which everything originates, and at the start there was nothing else, then "Everything" must be restructured gravitational field.
The more the gravitational field is restructured the more it manifests itself as Mass (having more gravitational effects).

This is a fundamental new way to look to reality.

Fundamental particles, atoms, molecules, cells, humans, animals, plants, objects ... all are restructured gravitational field. They all are sub-sets of the original gravitational field, and all are coupled in a specific way. They all have their specific oscillations (vibrations, sound, color), internal structure, and hierarchic combinations. And ... all these fundamental particles, atoms, molecules, cells, humans, animals, plants, objects ... are interconnected by gravity! Occam's Razor? I cannot imagine something simpler.

This approach means that every aspect of Nature and Life, included consciousness, mind and brain, is the result of different types of enfoldment(s) of the gravity field.
And by the way, Buddha said: Everything is Stress.

How can the membrane (the gravitational field) create sub-sets? Since there is only the substance of the membrane, nothing else, the membrane must fertilize itself. In an engineering way this can only happen with a penetrating action.

I show in next image how this happens.


The membrane is presented in this image as a sphere, which substance is non-breakable. Its surface oscillates and creates waves, which can be tubes or peaks in extreme conditions. In certain positions parts of this membrane will interact in a hard way. Under specific conditions an active part (a smaller tube) can penetrate another - passive - larger tube. Since the membrane is non-breakable the only action that is possible is "pushing" the surface(s).
The result: A sub-set (a holon) that has an internal part (yang) and a passive cover (yin). It's structural sub-set with two co-existence energies. Since the membrane is non-breakable these two parts are still isolated from each other, but joined together. A UNION which can be seen as a UNIT.
This first holon has three layers made of the membrane substance. Where the Whole has no structure, the holon has structure, and has structural duality. What we see now is a new manifolding topology. More on the webpage: The topological creation of holons

Once we have holons we can build up complex structures and hierarchies of holons, where each level of holons can combine/couple also with the original membrane. Everywhere on the membrane such complex structures can grow and they can inter-combine, to make Super Holons or Super Unions.

What different types of enfolding are possible?
We can analyze them by the Catalan number combinatorics.

The real possible combinations are giving by the Catalan Numbers. The Catalan numbers have a very fast growth (1, 2, 5, 14, 42, 132, 429, 1430, 4862, 16796, 58786, 208012, 742900, 2674440, 9694845, 35357670, 129644790, 477638700, 1767263190, 6564120420, 24466267020...), and are named after Eugène Charles Catalan (1814--1894).

If we see "space-time" as a non-breakable background membrane than - after 6 steps - there are 196 different created combinations (holons), because each holon can combine also with the background itself. This is a reality ignored by I Ching. The first possible combinations are not just limited to 2^6, the 64 states of I Ching. Binary analysis is a serious simplification. Indeed, all Yin-Yang combinations can combine also with the Wu Chi, not just with each other.

On my webpage Catalan Number Growth is shown a causal diagram of the growth of these holons, and the design respects the growth as indicated by the Catalan numbers. That diagram is also given below as an animated gif.[Click on the image]. In total 22 holons (sub-sets) are created from 1 (the membrane) which is in the center. Each of these 22 first holon types has its unique layering, thus has a proper frequency or vibration mode like bells have or like letters of the alphabet.
